Lab Safety Training with Virtual Labs

How can virtual lab simulations be used for safety training?

Our Biosafety simulation introduces users to a Containment Level 3 (Biosafety level 3, BSL-3) research laboratory, and introduces users to BSL-3 good practice and aseptic technique. This simulation is great for training users on how to handle hazardous pathogens without the risk of contamination or infection. Users are presented with the specific basic safety rules for BSL-3 labs (e.g. PPE and primary containment) and will learn how every part of the laboratory is designed to avoid contamination (e.g. fumigation in a microbiological safety cabinet).

Working in a chemistry lab? Our Chemistry Safety simulation will train users on how to safely work with organic solvents. With virtual labs, users are free to experiment with dangerous chemicals without any risk of harm. Just like in a real lab, users can be introduced to working in a chemical fume hood, and proper disposal of different wastes. The simulation also covers a brief intro to CAS numbers and looking up H and P phrases in safety data sheets, to simulate how one would properly carry out safety checks before a chemical experiment.

Technique and concept simulations
