Labster Participating in Dubai Future Accelerators (DFA)

2 November 2016 – Labster has been selected by Dubai Future Accelerators (DFA) to be one of 30 companies to help shape Dubai’s future. The inaugural, 12-week long DFA program was formally launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on 3 October 2016.

Labster’s participation in DFA builds on the synergy possible between their and DFA’s shared focus on innovation, new technologies, empowerment, and building long-term solutions. Labster’s key activities will focus on developing the next generation of their labs to advance science education and increase accessibility to their virtual lab solutions.

H.E. Saif Al Aleeli, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Future Foundation, commented: “With the Dubai Future Accelerators, our mission is to turn the future, which was once a theoretical concept, into a reality in which Dubai can position itself as a global leader. We are excited to see how some of the world’s most innovative companies and entrepreneurs collaborate with our government entities to create solutions that will transform the future of Dubai, and possibly the world.”

During the program, Labster will work closely with the Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the agency responsible for the growth and quality of private education in Dubai, to explore where Labster’s expertise merges with KHDA’s objectives. “We are pleased to be exploring a collaboration with the authorities in Dubai to help improve the quality of education in the emirate, and we are currently focused on developing and deploying our virtual reality (VR) laboratories to universities and high schools throughout the region,” states Mads Tvillinggaard Bonde, Labster’s Founder and CEO.

Labster was one of 30 companies selected from a pool of 2274 applicants hailing from 73 countries. The DFA program will be supported by seven Dubai-based government entities — including KHDA — who are operating with the intent that solutions generated via DFA could then be applied to countries in the region and around the world. Around 1 billion AED (~$275m US) has been set aside to fund these combined initiatives over the next five years.
